Name Writing

Sunshine has been very interested in letters and writing as of late.  Here she is writing her name! So proud of her!!!!!  First I wrote it with pencil and she traced over it in maker; then I wrote it out using dotted letters and she traced over those easily too!  

Tot School: July 27 - August 1, 2009

Sunshine is 24 months, 3 weeks old.

We started our week off with a surprise from Grandma and Grandpa. They brought Sunshine over a lego table and some duplos! She was so thrilled!! Its a great table too; one side is for legos and the other side is plain white flat surface that is perfect for playing playdough or coloring on.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!

Sunshine explored with our nature items that we collected on our nature walk last weekend. We had found some neat round seed pod thingies (not sure what tree they were from) and to our surprise one of them was FULL of little black ants! Sunshine broke it open and starting yelling, "Buggies momma! Buggies!" So we got an unexpected lesson about ants at the same time! LOL! She also worked on one-to-one correspondence by putting one acorn in each section of an ice cube tray; we still have lots of work to do to master this skill.

Sunshine enjoyed drawing with a few different types of art media this week as well.

Sunshine got to play mini golf for the first time this week! She loved it, until that is she threw her ball into the water for the third time! LOL!

Sunshine made the letter C for circles to add to her alphabet book!

Sunshine sorted some summer themed erasers that I got at the Dollar Tree. She did GREAT with it!! We did this a few times before she grew bored of it.

We ended our week with another trip to the beach. We bought a kite and had a fun time trying to fly it. Hehe... Sunshine enjoyed running through the waves and splashing in a puddle with her beach toys. I must add that she is getting quite the tan; she has more tan then I do! (So glad she has her daddy's genes for that one! Phew!)

Tot School: June 22-28, 2009

Sunshine is 23.3 months old.

Learning Toys:
I scored a foam floor mat alphabet puzzle off of Freecycle on Monday and we put it together and now it is one of Sunshine's favorite activities. She loves the letter Bb even though she can not seem to say it.

I picked up these color matching puzzles at Building 19 several months ago and Sunshine really likes them. I help her match them and she likes to mix them all up again.

Another HUGE hit this week was her Melissa and Doug instrument puzzle. I think she could complete this with her eyes shut as she has done it so many times!

We also played with her mega-blocks many times this week. She is a funny one, as some times she just like to stack the single blocks up as high as they can go and knock them down. However, this day she built a wonderful castle.

We recently went to Sunshine's BFF 2nd birthday party and she was given a playdough kit with letter stamps and scissors as her "goodie" from the party. Sunshine LOVES them! (Thank you Kellee!!!)

As always markers are her favorite art tool. She can take the covers off by herself and when she is done drawing she can put the covers back on, even matching the right color cover to its marker!

Life School:

We took a trip to a local fish store this week and we came home with two of these Jelly Bean Parrot Cichlids. Cute little buggers!

On Saturday night we went to Sunshine's godparents house for a bon-fire and fireworks. We had a blast and here are a few highlights from the fun!
