Visit to The Butterfly Place

Going along with our experience of watching our caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies, I took Sunshine to The Butterfly Place where we were able to see many more variety of butterflies.  It was so neat to walk around and have butterflies fluttering all around you.

These pretty little birds were all over the place too.  Perhaps they are population control?

This guy walked right on to Sunshine's hand!  

There were also a bunch of quails running around in the greenery on the ground!
These are a couple of babies.

Hatching Butterflies

Through a great deal I found on Groupon, we ordered a butterfly kit from Insect Lore.  When we received the kit, it came with 4 painted lady butterfly larva, food, and an enclosure to keep them in once they hatched as butterflies.   It took about  weeks for them to go from larva to butterfly.

Once they emerged from their chrysalis as beautiful butterflies, we watched them for a few days and on a nice warm day in early September, we released them.

After trying many times this summer to catch the ice cream truck, we finally did it in late August!

Sunshine got to check out the inside of the truck, thanks to our very nice ice cream LADY!
