Attention Span

Sunshine's attentions span is growing a lot lately, especially in the area where listening to books are concerned.  I so love reading stories to her each night before she goes to bed and she always asks for "one more story and that's it" which makes me grin from ear to ear, turn to putty, and say yes for one more book even though I told her that was last book 3 books ago.  Board books, Little Critter books, and other shorter story books have always been her favorite and all she can stand to listen to, even though we read many a night.  On the rare occasion she will ask to read a longer story and I just eat up those moments because I have so many wonderful children's books I can hardly wait to share with her.  There is a LARGE variety of children's books in her room so she always has access to many, but she tends to chose the same old stories each night.  I do understand the need for repetition when it comes to book, but sometimes it gets a boring for me.  Recently she is really beginning to branch out and ask me to read books that we have never read before and many of them are much longer then her normal repertoire that she normally picks.  Here are a few that we have been reading:
1. A Chair for My Mother by Vera B. Williams
2. Septimus Bean and His Amazing Machine by Janet Quin-Harkin (This is a timeless classic IMHO but is no longer in print.  My dad used to read this to me often as a child.  Its a fun rhyming story with princesses, a king, a queen, and of course Septimnus Bean!)
3. Smelly Socks by Robert Munsch  (This book is CLASSIC Robert Munsch! So funny and silly!  I just adore his books.)

So what books have you and your little one been reading???
