Uh-oh!!! Kayley has learned how to open the doors in our house! ARGH! Yesterday she shut herself in her bedroom while playing and Damian called to her "Kayley open the door. Come out here." Well the next thing we know she's running into the living room!! EEK! She was able to turn the door knob all by HERSELF! Childproof dorr knob thingies, here we come!!!

K had a little...

lamb; it's fleece was white as snow. K made a lamb the other day out of paper, glue, and cotton balls. She loved it! I have a toddler activity calendar that I print each month from Preschool Express in which I found the suggestion. Here is K making her little lamb:

And the finished product!

Once it was complete, I hung it on the fridge. The little stinker ran up to it and started pulling cotton off of it!! She'd rip it off, run away, and laugh. So I just moved it up where she could not reach it. She didn't think that was so funny.

And the word of the day is:

BUBBLES! I was blowing bubbles for K while she was in the tub tonight and she said BUBBLES! YAY! That's one more word to add to her list! WOO HOO!! Keep 'em coming kiddo!!

Also on a side note K ate whole cooked canned green beans tonight! I am so PROUD! She hates veggies of any kind, with the exception of carrots sometimes. We had chicken and green beans for dinner tonight and I gave her 2 green beans on her plate. She took one to try a bite and I thought, ya right! She ate the whole thing and gobbled up another and then asked for MORE! WOO HOO! She ate about 10 or 12 of them! I hope this trend continues!!!

First Ear Infections

Well K has her first TWO ear infections; yup, that's right one in each ear! She came down with a cold 3-4 days ago and now has these lovely infections. She is on amoxicillin for 10 days 2x a day. I am going to keep her home from school tomorrow so that she can catch up on sleep and frankly so I can too. This past weekend has meant serious lack of sleep for everyone around here; poor thing has been up moaning/whinning through out the nights. I am hoping she feels better soon!!

What a BIG girl!

Well K (and I) survived her first day in childcare! YAY! Damian and I got all the way to the center and realized we didn't have all of her required paperwork (ugh) so I had to come home to get it. Once I got back there with the paperwork we brought her to her classroom and got her settled. Once Damian and I said our goodbyes and began walking out the door she became to cry pretty hard. Poor thing! I was crying by the time I made it to the parking lot, too. I cried all the way to work, but once I had gotten there I had recieved a text from a friend who works there saying K had stopped crying 5 mins after we left and was playing with her daughter. I called 2 times to check on her through the day and she was doing great both times I called, thankfully. I picked her up around 2:15 and she was so excited to see me. The teachers said she had a great day and gave me her daily note that told me how she ate, diaper changes, ho long she napped, etc. I am so proud of my big girl!!!

Eye... Eye... Eye... OW!!!

Poor K! She is cutting her first eye tooth and it's getting the best of her! Over the past three or so days she seems to always have her hands stuffed into her mouth and it chewing. Freeze pops and tylenol have been our best friends!!!

JC Penny ROCKS!

I love JC Penny! They had a great $10 off $10 online coupon and I was able to buy K a winter coat for next winter! The coat was on clearance for $12.99 and with the $10 off it was $2.99, so I got the coat for $7.49 including site to store shipping! YAHOO!! I am so excited!!!! It's a bubble coat, thigh length, and is a sparklie light blue color! So cute!

E.T. Finger

K's newest thing is pointing; pointing up, pointing out the window, pointing at the fridge, pointing over the gate into the rest of the house to tell us she wants something. The other day as she was pointing at me, I pointed my finger to her and moved my finger closer and closer to hers until they were touching. Her reply was, "Ooooh!!!" So now she does what I call the "E.T. finger" over and over; reminds me of the great scene in the movie E.T. when Elliot cuts his finger and E.T. heals it for him with the simple touch of his own. So cute!

Bedtime Horrors

K has been giving me a really difficult time at bedtime lately. I am sure she is just trying to be in control and assert her independance, but boy oh boy. Enough is enough. I am trying to be consistent with her bedtime routine so that it is familiar and has boundries. She has been really pushing my buttons by screaming, yelling at me, flailing around as I try to change her change her diaper, brush her teeth, and put on her jammies. Argh. I am just hoping that if I continue to keep up with the routine that she will eventually give in and realize that what mommy says goes. I have even begun giving her 5 minute warnings before we begin our bedtime routine so that she has time to internalize what is going to happen. Any ideas anyone???

Art Basket

I began putting together a basket full of art supplies that are K friendly. I am really trying to spend lots of quality time with her in the afternoon once I am home from work and she wakes from her mid-day nap. I have been getting many ideas from some of my fellow July 07 mommas as well as from some other blogs that I have been following. She spent a 1/2 hour today coloring and playing with play dough while I was along side her talking about colors and what not; I was pretty impressed that she was able to focus for that long. She also spent about 20 minutes on Saturday morning water color painting; I think she would have lasted longer had we not had a time constraint. She got VERY upset with me when she had to be done.

So far in the basket I have put:
  1. chunky crayons
  2. plain paper
  3. a coloring book
  4. play dough
  5. plastic utensils for the play dough
  6. cookie cutters for the playdough
  7. water color paints
  8. finger paints

Is there anything else that should be added? Leave me a comment if you can think of anything else please! TY!

Mama's Little Monkey...

K is OBSESSED with Curious George these days; so much in fact this will be here theme for her 2nd birthday. (Ugh... YES, she is going to be two in July. I can hardly believe it; it actually makes me feel a bit sad when I think about it because she is growing up so fast and all the firsts she has experienced are quickly becoming seconds, thirds, and even fourths.) Anyways, back to my original reason for this post: she just adores George and gets so EXCITED when she sees or hears anything to do with him. I found this fun website tonight and created a silly monkey picture of K that I had to share:

Create your own FACEinHOLE
Isn't she just the cutest??????????????
